Moderating comments
The first time that someone (including the teacher) comments on your blog, an email will be sent to your registered email address, asking you to moderate the comment. This just means that you accept the comment, and allow it to be shown on your blog. This allows you to filter out anything inappropriate and confirm that the comment is from someone you know.
You can moderate comments in 2 ways:
- Click on the relevant link in the email
- This option is useful if you cannot access your email from school. Go into ’site admin’ (you need to be logged in first). From the light blue menu bar at the top of the page, select ‘comments’. This shows you a page containing all the comments that have been left on your blog. You can also use this page to delete comments at a later date (though obviously you shouldn’t be doing this unless it’s a reminder I sent you that you have now followed up!) On the black menu bar just under the light blue bar, there will be a tab saying ‘awaiting moderation’ followed by a number in brackets. If the number is zero, your comments are all up to date. If there is a number in the brackets, when you click on this, it will show you the comments awaiting moderation and allow you to moderate them.
After you have moderated a comment once, if the same person leaves you another comment, it will automatically be posted. You can change your settings to stop this happening, but it is much easier this way, so I recommend you don’t!
